There are many choices when it comes to camping lanterns. They're not just for campgrounds anymore. With modern LED technology, you can now buy lanterns that are light, bright, and compact enough for even backpackers to take into the woods.

The best lantern or portable light for a nighttime adventure depends on what features you want. You can choose from a wide variety of different options, but consider these tradeoffs when selecting the lantern that's right for you:

• Power Type: Battery Powered, Rechargeable, or Solar.
